A delicious, healthy drink to hydrate and get you back on track!
This homemade electrolyte drink is one of my favorites for times when I feel like I'm getting dehydrated or for when I'm sick and need something healing and hydrating but also healthy. It's great for kids too - my 18-month old daughter absolutely loves it!
The lemon and apple cider vinegar are packed with minerals such as potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus and they also provide a great kick of vitamin C. This is especially helpful when you're feeling under the weather.
Sugar-free Homemade Electrolyte drink
Ingredients
1 eight ounce glass of water
1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
Juice of half a lemon (about 1-2 tbsps)
¼ tsp monkfruit sweetener or coconut sugar (if you don't mind the sugar)
ice cubes to taste
Directions
Pour an 8 oz glass of water and add ice cubes as desired
Add apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and monkfruit sweetener or coconut sugar and mix well
Drink up!
The reason I love this drink so much is that it's super versatile. You can change it up easily to fit your taste or mood. If you're fighting a stomach bug, add some ginger to help with digestion and boil the water to make it a hot, comforting drink. If you like a kick of heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. I've been known to add turmeric and black pepper (for absorption) to my homemade drinks for that extra anti-inflammatory bite!
I hope you enjoy this drink as much as I do! If you make it, please let me know what you think the comments below!
